During Kenzies services I got to be the aunt that chaperoned the kids around. Specifically I was taking Kate and Ashley to and from the service, the cemetery, and back to the church. But since I had two kids, all the others came right along. Somehow I ended up with Jack, Beau, Kate, Ashley, Grey, and Pete all in my car. And it honestly made for some sweet memories. Because all of the kids had many questions, some easy and some hard ones:
“where is Kenzie now?”
“Do you think Kenzie is scared?”
“Who is watching Kenzie right now?”
“Can we come visit Kenzie all the time?”
“Can Kenzie hear us even after she has been buried?”
“Do you think Kenzie will have all of her favorite snacks up in heaven?”
“Is Kenzie watching us right now?”.
Those kids threw some curveball questions at me. But after the questions, we just started talking about our memories of Kenzie (all while listening to Kenzies favorite songs). I heard so many cute things come out of all my nieces and nephews mouths.
“Kenzie will still always be my sister”
“I think Kenzie has lots of friends up in heaven” followed up quickly with Ashley saying “I bet Ariel is her friend”
“Kenzie must have had a lot of people that loved her! Did you see how many people were at the church?”
“Kenna, did you know that we will get to see Kenzie again? She will be up there waiting for us!”
I wish I would have written all of those things down, because so much more was said about Kenzie. I was so grateful to have those moments with those cute kids in the car. Every single one of those kids loved Kenzie and had such fun memories of her.
